My resolution to write on paper and read from paper is really just a silly way of saying I need to spend more time away from the computer, doing things that encourage my creativity.
Throughout January I’ve not been inspired to do anything. I’ve been bored, but the thought of reading or writing just didn’t appeal to me.
But a week or so ago I just forced myself to read. And I’ve really missed reading! It seems like there’s a part of me that feels guilty for not reading enough, and that guilt can really get to you even if it’s very subconscious. So I’ve started to dedicate the end of each day (sometimes even just 10 minutes) to read while I’m in bed. And it feels really good!
On top of this I’ve started writing in my notebook again. I just write whatever comes into my head, and it helps get my thoughts out, let out negativity, and sets me up for a more productive day.
So one of my resolutions (I know it’s the end of January but I’m still making them!) is to read from paper and write from paper. It’s a fantastic way to make sure I get away from the computer, too.

I don’t even remember the last time that I wrote into a notebook. If I don’t count taking notes in lectures, that is, but that’s hardly creative (well, the writing is, my doodling, on the other hand, is quite impressive lol).
I feel you on the books, I too love reading but somehow, I can’t bring myself to read books for pleasure anymore, or at least not when I’m in school. I was reading a lot all summer, but that had a lot to do with me working instead of studying, and even more to do with not having a laptop in Spain… best thing ever!
Bitter Chocolate´s last blog ..crybaby – cry, baby
Bitter- Actually I feel the same, or I mean I felt the same at university. I had to read so much that reading time seemed to just be for work. That time you had in Spain sounds like bliss! I can never be without my computer, it’s kind of sad actually.
I love this resolution…fantastic! I bought a little four-pack of notebooks and I carry at least one with me everywhere to catch any random phrases, observations, lists, etc.
The Naked Redhead´s last blog ..Announcing: THE NAKED STORE!
Naked – That’s such a great idea. I always mean to do this too. I used to write blog posts like that, and they were often the best. Now I’ve just lost that creative spark. Hopefully writing more will help to get it back
I’m trying to do this too. It’s difficult when typing makes things so much easier on your hand than writing does. But I wish you luck and myself luck that we can do this!!
fragileheart´s last blog ..Glitter in the Air
Fragile- Yeah, I also feel weird writing with a pen!! But it is really worthwhile. I hope it’s going well for you.
